Moffat Movies is celebrating Jane Austen’s 250th birthday with a screening of Ang Lee’s 1995 period drama, Sense and Sensibility, based on Austen’s 1811 novel. Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay and stars as Elinor Dashwood while Kate Winslet plays Elinor’s younger sister, Marianne. The brilliant cast also includes Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and Greg Wise.
When Henry Dashwood dies, his wife and three daughters are left in bad financial straits. They must leave their home and the marriage prospects of the young women are much reduced, lading to further problems.
