Pat Douthwaite: Alive and Kicking, is a one-woman show – The Heroica Theatre Company.
Performed by actor, Alexandra Mathie, with live piano accompaniment from Angie Cairns and projected images, aiming to unravel the knotty bond between Pat Douthwaite’s somewhat reckless life and her dramatic and often confrontational art works. An artist of extraordinary and unique vision she screamed out an uncompromising view of the human condition in works that were nothing less than genius. The art-loving public was by no means ready for such a maverick and unbridled style as Douthwaite’s and, tragically, she saw scant proper recognition in her lifetime.
In this production, hailed as ‘a triumph’, Heroica aims to afford Pat Douthwaite the appreciation and understanding she so richly deserves and to shine a bright light on yet another wickedly under-sung artist
