Dumfries and Galloway born Emily Smith and New Zealander Jamie McClennan play a small run of local shows as Smith & McClennan this autumn.
Their vocal harmonies intertwine with an easy, natural grace, testament to a musical relationship which has grown almost telepathic during twenty years of collaboration together.
Double vocals, underpinned by their instrumental skills, showcase original and re-worked trad material drawing influences from folk, Americana and beyond.
A respected figure on the international folk scene Emily has released eight acclaimed albums of traditional music and gained several award winning accolades along the way.
A versatile fiddle player, guitarist and producer, Jamie has played in Emily’s band from the start, as well as being constantly in demand to tour and record with a host of other musicians such as Dumfries based band The Lucky Doves.
Together they have toured extensively all over the world and performed with many musical greats including Richard Thompson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Barbara Dickson and Jerry Douglas.
TV and radio appearances include Transatlantic Sessions, BBC Songs of Praise and Radio 2’s Bob Harris Show.
Having now settled in Nithsdale to raise their family, the couple have shifted focus from full time touring to creating music closer to home.
They’re still writing and performing while working with various arts and education projects and ultimately passing on their passion for music teaching the next generation of musicians.
Catch them on this rare public show!
